Happiness: A Distant Dream for many

What’s our purpose in life? Why were we created by God? What’s our motive? What do we do once our motive is completed? How do we know what’s our motive?

In my school of thought, our motive is to be the happiest versions of ourselves. There are 7 billion people on this planet and 7 billion ways that bring us happiness.

Pleasure for someone could be just a stroll in the park with their dog, it could be getting that dream job, it could be buying their dream car, etc. The list can go on and on.

In the quest to fulfill our motives, we often tend to forget to live in the moment. Worrying about the distant future, the stress that comes along with it. Living those little moments could give us so much satisfaction.

We are told always “Kid look at the bigger picture”. We’ve created this mentality that achieving a bigger goal or a motive can only give us ultimate happiness. Try living in those small moments, try to find contentment in those small things which might not matter much in the future but it does in the present.

Why always worry about the future, why are we failing to remember to achieve happiness in the distant future we are sabotaging our happiness today.

I think happiness comes from within. When you’re contented with yourself and don’t depend on anyone else for your source of happiness, that’s when it’s a win-win situation. It takes years for people to find their ultimate motive. Not knowing that it is within them.

  1. I don’t personally think that our motive or purpose in life is to be happy. I think that when we’re young we believe that to be true perhaps but as we age and mature we get clarity. Happiness is fleeting, but helping those around us is far more rewarding. If we’re constantly seeking happiness we’ll never stop seeking. Bad days make life interesting 😅 if we were happy all the time… we would never grow. If that’s all we strived for, we would die failures. It’s okay to be unhappy ❤️
